Brandenburg Studies

Do you enjoy unit studies?  Do you enjoy unit studies that are already prepared for you?  Do you enjoy unit studies that require little to no gathering of materials on your part?  Do your children enjoy learning on the computer?  Do you desire for your children to be able to learn independently?  If you answered ‘yes’ to one or more of my questions, then Brandenburg

Hands of a Child: Grammar Lapbook

Our family enjoys lapbooking.  We don’t use lapbooks for every single unit we complete, but I like to find two or three really good lapbooking units to use throughout the school year.  I find my self going to Hands of a Child quite often when looking for the perfect fit for our lapbooking needs.  Their units are typically thorough, easy to implement and well organized.

Five in a Row Review

When I first began looking into homeschool curriculum a few years ago, one of the first things I came across was Five in a Row, a collection of literature-based unit studies by Jane Claire Lambert. These units are geared towards children ages four through eight, but I have known families who have used this curriculum with younger and older students. There are four separate volumes

Apologia Elementary Science

Apologia publishes a full-range of science texts for the Christian homeschool. They began with high school science texts which have been very popular with homeschoolers for many years. More recently, Apologia began publishing elementary texts. Currently, the elementary science series includes five titles: Astronomy, Botany, Flying Creatures, Swimming Creatures, and Land Creatures. These texts follow the immersion principle of learning. Rather than study a wide-variety

The Elements – Chemistry Review

The Elements by Ellen Johnston McHenry Now let me introduce you to the profile of the compliant child:  My oldest is very easy to homeschool. I could hand him a 500 pg. book to read, give him 3 pages of questions to answer, assign a 5 page typed report and he would comply by the following day. I know this about him but I do not
