Maps Charts & Graphs Review

MapsChartsGraphs

My oldest son has always had a love for geography.  It’s always been natural for us to go find places on a map when we are talking or reading about different places in the world.

I’m always looking for little ways to encourage his love of geography. One activity that has helped my son learn more about geography and map work is Maps, Charts and Graphs from Modern Curriculum Press.

These are a series of workbooks with straightforward lessons.  Yes, I said workbooks!  I know some people are adamantly opposed to workbooks, but my oldest has always done well with workbooks and really isn’t interested in a lot of extra fluff.  He likes things straight and to the point.  If you have a learner like that in your home, these would be a great addition.

Maps, Charts & Graphs Series

The series starts very basic with map work in the home and around the neighborhood.  As the series progresses so does the geographical area:

Level A: The Places Around Me

Level B: Neighborhoods

Level C: Communities

Level D: States and Regions

Level E: United States and its Neighbors

Level F: Eastern Hemisphere

Level G: The World

Level H: United States Past and Present

Benefits of Maps, Charts & Graphs

1.  Easily feed a love of geography for my student

2. Encourage independent study

3.  Great review of geography terms and locations

Using this series has been a great way to increase the love and the learning of Geography for my son!

It looks like a must have series. I am really interested to look up for one. Recently we use some evanmoor and knowledge quest, but they don’t work well. Thanks for sharing
